The airline provides both domestic services to locations around the United States as well as International flights to the Caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica and Great Britain.

The vast majority of the airlines routes either depart or arrive at the main hub at Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport, or airports at Lansing and Dallas-Fort Worth. That said, Sun Country does also provide periodic services that are chartered flights from Midwestern cities that are smaller like La Crosse in the state of Wisconsin, and the city of Fargo in the state of North Dakota. These flights provide passengers with travel to leisure and holiday destinations such as the popular southern state of Nevada, particularly cities like Las Vegas and Laughlin.

Sun Country manages service all of its flights through its operation of a fleet which consist mostly of Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft. These planes have a relatively low average age at around ten years old.

The airline has a wide range of flight services to choose from, offering both first class and economy class travel. Passengers who travel first class are entitled to leather seats that are laid out in a two by two seating pattern and that are equipped with audio entertainment and automatic reclining functions. Furthermore, passengers travelling in first class receive a hot meal on every flight. For economy fliers, the leather seats are arranged three by three and the seats are equipped only with audio entertainment. A hot meal is not included, but hot sandwiches and snacks can be purchased on board for a low fee. As such, the airline combines low prices with high standards of customer care to ensure a focus on its target market.
