Asiana Airlines: Korea’s most successful airline
Despite nearly half a century of political turmoil that ended officially at the end of the 1980s, South Korea has now managed to secure a status as a key figure on the global playing field. As the county’s domestic economical situation advances, so too has the need for more convenient international trade. This need has caused a drive in travel and tourism and as such, South Korea now has two major international airlines; Korean Air and Asiana Airlines.
Previously known as Seoul Airlines, Asiana is headquartered in Asiana Town in the country’s capital city of Seoul. The airline has two hubs, a domestic one and an international one which are located at Gimpo International Airport and Incheon International Airport respectively. As part of the Star Alliance group, Asiana provides over five hundred departure flights every day including outward journeys to other parts of Asia, as well as destinations throughout North America, Oceania and Europe.
Asiana Airlines also operates fourteen domestic flights every day, as well as over twenty cargo flights, and eighty-five international passenger routes. As well as accommodating tourists’ arrival into South Korea, Asiana also enjoys a large amount of business by providing connecting flights to popular backpacking destinations in the Pacific such as Fiji and New Zealand.
As well as holding a prestigious business reputation in South Korea, Asiana has received global recognition for its exceptionally high standards of customer care. For example, in 2010 Global Travelers magazine named Asiana as the airline that provides the best in-flight services for its customers. This was the sixth time in six years that the airline received such high prize. In the same year, the airline was also rated as the best in all of Northern Asia, as scored by the opinions of 31,500 passengers and industry experts. The airline’s unique in-flight services helped it to secure such a high vote, with entertainment in the form of magic shows, and food cooked by on-flight chefs.
The accolades don’t end there however, with Asiana winning the Airline of the Year Award, as awarded by Skytrax. Skytrax also went on to rate Asiana as a five star airline; one of only seven such airlines worldwide.
Asiana Airlines has a fleet which consists of Airbuses, and Boeing models including 747s, 737s, and 777s. This diverse range of aircraft allows the company to cover all different aspects of air travel with both efficiency and professionalism. This blend of accommodating travel opportunities and outstanding customer services has helped secure Asiana the sterling reputation that it enjoys today.
